Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCHRC), Punjab, a unit of Tata Memorial Centre under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, successfully concluded ASCENT 2026, a two-day conference focused on advancing education and skill development in allied health sciences at its New Chandigarh campus.
The conference was inaugurated by Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha as the chief guest, while HBCHRC Punjab Director Dr Ashish Gulia attended as the guest of honour. Around 350 delegates, including faculty members, healthcare professionals and students from leading medical institutions across the country, participated in the event.
The scientific programme featured expert lectures on the latest developments in allied health sciences, along with hands-on workshops in Radiology, Pathology, Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology to strengthen practical skills and clinical expertise.

Addressing the gathering, KAP Sinha highlighted the crucial role of allied health professionals in ensuring accurate diagnostics, safe procedures and improved patient outcomes. He lauded HBCHRC Punjab for taking the lead in developing a skilled healthcare workforce and enhancing cancer care in North India.
Dr Ashish Gulia said education is one of the three core pillars of Tata Memorial Centre, alongside patient care and research. He described ASCENT as an annual academic initiative aimed at building a highly skilled allied healthcare workforce and improving the overall quality of patient care across the region.
