Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital begins 3-day ‘Cancer Conclave 2026’

Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCH&RC), Punjab, a unit of the Tata Memorial Centre under the Department of Atomic Energy, on Friday commenced the third edition of the Homi Bhabha Cancer Conclave (HBCC) 2026. The three-day academic conclave, being organised on the theme “Bridging Gaps in Oncology”, is focused on “Multidisciplinary Management of Common Cancers”. Hundreds of doctors from across the country have registered for the event.

The opening day featured three specialised pre-conference workshops at HBCH&RC, New Chandigarh. The workshops covered “Virtual Surgical Planning, Navigation and 3D Printing in Surgical Oncology”, “MRI in Prostate Cancer” and “HER2 Testing in the Era of Precision Medicine”. The sessions provided participants with hands-on training and opportunities for interactive learning.

The main conference will be held at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Chandigarh, on August 22 and 23. Former NITI Aayog member and former head of the Department of Pediatrics at AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr Vinod Kumar Paul, will inaugurate the conference as chief guest. IIT Ropar Director Dr Rajeev Ahuja will be the guest of honour.

The scientific programme will feature dedicated sessions on GI Oncology and Hematology on Saturday. Sunday’s sessions will focus on Head and Neck Cancer, Thoracic Oncology and Dental Rehabilitation.

A Cancer Awareness Walkathon will also be organised at Sukhna Lake on August 23 to promote awareness about cancer prevention and early detection. Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav will be the chief guest.

HBCH&RC Director Dr Ashish Gulia said the conclave had evolved into an important academic platform bringing specialists from different disciplines together. He said the event would emphasise evidence-based discussions, practical learning and multidisciplinary collaboration while strengthening oncology education in North India.
